Demänovská Cave of Liberty
The best-known cave in the Demänovská valley. The tour route is 1,020 metres long with 1,042 steps and takes about 60 minutes. The temperature inside is 5.8 to 6.4 °C all year, so you'll need a jacket even in August.
- From the car park to the entrance is 1,420 metres with 260 metres of climbing; allow 40 to 45 minutes on foot.
- Tours start at fixed times. The schedule changes with the season; check it at ssj.sk.
- The steps make it hard work for small children. A baby carrier is better than a pushchair.
Demänovská Ice Cave
Shorter and great for kids: the route is 850 metres and takes 45 minutes. In the lower part, known as the Freezer, there are icicles and frozen waterfalls. The ice is 400 to 500 years old. Cave bear bones were found here and were once believed to belong to dragons, which is why it's also called the Dragon Cave. Ten species of bats live inside. The entrance is at 840 metres, about 90 metres above the valley floor.

Jasná and Chopok
At the end of the valley is the Jasná resort. A barrier-free cable car takes you from Biela Púť all the way to the top of Chopok and the Rotunda restaurant.
- From the Rotunda, an easy stone path leads to the Dereše signpost in under 30 minutes.
- Fitter walkers can follow the red ridge trail to Ďumbier (2,043 m), the highest peak of the Low Tatras.
- Outside the main season, the lifts don't run every day. Check current operation at jasna.sk.
Vrbické pleso
A glacial lake below Chopok with an easy path around it, benches and mountain views. You can manage it with a dog and an off-road pushchair. It's a good alternative when Chopok is in the clouds.
A plan for the whole day
- Morning drive from the farmstead to the Demänovská valley (35–40 min).
- First tour of the Cave of Liberty or the Ice Cave.
- Lunch in Jasná or on Chopok.
- Cable car up Chopok or a walk around Vrbické pleso.
- Sauna at the farmstead in the evening.
